Based upon the combined experience and expertise of its staff, KMS has proven itself a reliable consultant for many types of projects and appointments including:

Municipal Planning:
KMS provides municipal planning services including land development plan reviews; zoning and land development ordinance review, updating and writing; park master planning; MS4 program compliance assistance; permit application preparation and follow up and other general planning consultation.

Since early 2007, KMS principal, Adam Supplee has been the Township Planner for a rapidly growing Montgomery County, PA community. Adam has garnered the confidence of Township staff and political leadership through his expertise in planning and landscape architecture related issues. Adam continues to prove his value to the township by providing landscape architectural and planning services well beyond his initial assignment.

Trails Projects:
With its experienced staff, KMS offers trail planning and design services from initial concept planning, regional master planning and public consensus building to detailed construction documentation, bidding and construction administration.

In July, 2007, KMS was asked to provide quick turn around design services for a Montgomery County School District trail project. The project was put out to bid in early October and was under contract for construction by the end of November.

Park design and construction:
KMS offers park design and master planning services, grant application preparation and coordination services for communities and non-profits seeking local, state, federal and/or private grants. From concept to construction, KMS staff has many years of experience designing educational, accessible and enjoyable parks for all sectors of the public and working with grant recipients to meet the requirements of granting agencies.

Under an expedited schedule beginning in the summer of 2007, KMS completed the design and bidding process for a community park in western Chester County, PA. The project was bid in late fall and construction began when the weather broke in spring 2008. KMS was retained to administer the construction contract for the project, which is funded by a grant from the Chester County Landscape for the 21st Century Fund. The finished park was opened in fall 2008.

Sustainable Land Development:
KMS provides planning and design services for sustainable land development projects. We specialize in land developing design solutions for redevelopment, urban infill, brownfield and other potentially difficult sites. KMS believes that site design should focus on pedestrian oriented, safe, and healthy solutions that are economically viable for both the site and the surrounding community. KMS services include preparing sketch plans, design feasibility analysis, public presentation plans, circulation design and analysis, expert testimony, sustainable landscape plans, stormwater best management plans and preparation of all plans necessary for general land development approvals.

KMS was the lead consultant for site related planning and prepared preliminary and final land development documents for redevelopment of a small urban site as subsidized senior’s housing developed by a Lancaster, PA based non-profit. The project was completed and occupied in September 2009.

Streetscapes:
KMS offers landscape architectural services for streetscape design. With a focus on pedestrian safety and unique sense of place for the community, KMS works closely with municipalities and revitalization committees to produce a unique, context sensitive design for each streetscape project.

KMS has completed several streetscape design and road improvement projects including Phase II of Phoenixville’s Bridge Street, and Elkins Park Streetscape, which is awaiting construction funding.

Landscapes for Horticultural Therapy:
KMS provides design services for creation of therapeutic gardens used in passive and active horticultural therapy.

In late 2006, KMS was asked to prepare a design concept and artist’s renderings for a courtyard at a county-owned facility for individuals in institutional nursing care. The renderings were used to solicit donations for final design and construction. KMS prepared final design and construction documents and represented the client in obtaining state agency approvals. The project is ready for first phase construction and will be finished in spring 2010.

Stormwater Best Management Practices and Ecological restoration:
KMS provides design services for ecological restoration, establishment of healthy native plant communities, designs for clean air and water, and stormwater recharge.

KMS recently assisted a Montgomery County based Watershed Association for a fully functional small stormwater management teaching garden. KMS also helped the Montgomery County Parks Department with design and construction contract administration services for the restoration of meadows and woodlands in the Lower Perkiomen Valley Park following sanitary sewer construction.

Residential Landscape Design and Master Planning:
From initial consultation and concept diagrams to detailed construction documentation and construction administration, KMS offers detailed residential design services including Master Plans, Planting Plans, Grading, Lighting, Hardscape and Irrigation design. Since KMS is not affiliated with any landscape contracting or construction services, designs are focused on the client’s needs and desires, rather than particular products or plant material that must be sold.

In 2007, KMS was selected to prepare a comprehensive landscape, landscape lighting and irrigation plan for the suburban Philadelphia residences of the presidents of an internationally recognized architectural firm and a regional traffic engineering firm.

Site Lighting:
KMS Design Group offers complete outdoor lighting design services. Utilizing the latest software and design technology, KMS can prepare energy efficient, dark sky compliant lighting designs that offer both safety and aesthetic appeal for streetscapes and commercial properties. KMS also provides finely detailed landscape lighting for residential projects.

KMS was selected to prepare a site lighting plan for a medical office building expansion project in Bucks County. The plan was approved without revisions after the first submission. KMS has also prepared lighting plans for several streetscape projects.

Irrigation System Design:
KMS Design Group offers complete irrigation system design services. Utilizing the latest design technology, KMS can prepare water saving, energy efficient irrigation systems designs that offer reliability, complete coverage without overspray, and are easy to maintain.

KMS was selected to prepare a comprehensive irrigation plan for a county courthouse and a dog park in northeastern PA and a high-profile memorial project in New Jersey. All three projects are complete and in use.
